The Tectonic Plate Theory
The Theory that states that Earth’s outer shell (lithosphere) is divided into several plates that glide over the Earth’s rocky inner layer above the soft core (mantle).This Theory is proven to be correct as there are multiple phenomenon that occur due to the presence of tectonic plates such as subduction zones where two tectonic plates are constantly putting each other under friction,that one of them goes on top of the other and the other goes underneath the other (they are mostly located around the edge of the Pacific Ocean,Russia,Japan,Alaska etc)
How are they named?
Tectonic Plates are classified by the continent or ocean that is above them like the Eurasian Plate or The Pacific Plate the list goes on.
What are some geological features created by Tectonic Plates?
To name some there are earthquakes ,Volcanoes,Mountains,Deep Ocean Trenches,submarine mountain ranges and island arcs
